By accessing this website or participating in any classes, workshops, courses or events delivered by The Grappling Academy Ltd (“The Academy”), you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Participation & Acknowledgement of Risk
Submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are full contact martial arts involving controlled takedowns, throws, joint locks, positional control and groundwork.
Physical contact and resistance are inherent to these activities. Participation carries a risk of injury, which in some cases may be serious.
Adult participants confirm that they understand the nature of these activities and choose to participate voluntarily.
For participants under 18, parents or legal guardians confirm that they understand the nature of these activities and accept these risks on behalf of their child.
All participants are responsible for following coaching instruction and training within their limits at all times.
The Academy takes all reasonable steps to provide a safe, structured and supervised training environment.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to the above, The Academy shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for injury arising from participation where reasonable care has been exercised.
2. Eligibility & Registration
Participants must provide accurate personal and medical information prior to attending.
Parents or legal guardians must complete registration and provide consent for anyone under 18.
You must be at least 16 years old to use this website independently.
3. Bookings & Attendance
All trials, workshops, courses and memberships are subject to availability.
We reserve the right to amend, reschedule or cancel sessions where necessary for safety, staffing, operational requirements or unforeseen circumstances.
Participation may be refused or withdrawn where safety, conduct or safeguarding concerns arise.
4. Membership Terms
Membership provides access to scheduled classes appropriate to the member’s age group.
All memberships operate on a 30-day rolling basis and renew automatically each month.
A minimum of 30 days’ written notice is required to cancel. Notice must be submitted via email to info@thegrapplingacademy.co.uk.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership without refund where behaviour breaches academy rules or compromises safety.
5. Membership Pauses
Routine pauses for holidays or general absence are not offered.
Temporary suspensions may be considered in cases of injury or extended illness, supported by appropriate evidence.
Requests must be submitted in writing in advance. Approval is at the discretion of The Academy.
6. Workshops & Third-Party Arrangements
Where services are delivered as part of a school, group or third-party arrangement, participation remains subject to these Terms.
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for ensuring consent forms are completed accurately and medical information is fully disclosed.
Sessions delivered at The Academy premises operate under The Academy’s supervision and safeguarding arrangements.
7. Conduct & Safety
All participants must follow coaching instructions at all times.
We reserve the right to remove or refuse participation to any individual whose behaviour compromises safety, respect or the training environment.
For minors, parents or guardians will be informed where removal is necessary.
8. Intellectual Property
All branding, logos, photography, video and written content associated with The Academy are protected intellectual property.
No material may be copied, reproduced or used without prior written permission.
9. Privacy & Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Personal and medical information is collected solely for safety, safeguarding and administrative purposes.

10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
Continued use of our website or participation in our services constitutes acceptance of the most recent version.
